INDIAN KEY EXPLORATION
Ever wanted to take a vacation from your vacation? Rent a kayak at Robbie's Marina (or take your own seaworthy craft) and paddle out to explore the ruins of an abandoned settlement on the small island of Indian Key, reachable only by boat. Once a home for people who salvaged shipwrecks, 11-acre Indian Key was the site of some fighting during the Seminole Wars, after which it's been largely uninhabited. Unimproved by anything modern, natural beauty has taken over. The east side of the island is a great spot for swimming and snorkeling, too. Remember to bring plenty of water and sunscreen!
